Seventeen years ago my back was so bad I had difficulty even walking. I had read about pilates and thought it could help. At the time I had no idea it was going to change my life forever. I started with once a week and realized two sessions a week was what was best to really feel the change. I started to feel the benefits of a strong core within weeks. Taking the time to connect my mind to my body using precise weighted tension on the reformer became a commitment I could not only stick to but enjoy. I started including walking and other forms of cardio and felt marvelous.

Eventually, private sessions on a regular basis provided me with the corrections and precise alignment that changed the way I moved through the world. Later when my children were heading off to college I knew it was time for me to share my passion of pilates with others. Going into my eighth year of teaching, I continue to be passionate about this work and amazed at what pilates brings to my life and how it truly helps people feel stronger more open, and more aligned.

One highlight of the many memorable moments of my Pilates journey was spending a weekend one on one with Mary Bowen. Mary is one of the few remaining pilates elders in our community and was a student of Joseph Pilates. I came home from that weekend with stories of what Joesph wanted the work to be. I felt connected to the founder of pilates and filled with a purposeful enthusiasm to carry on his work in my own studio. I continue to enhance my practice and my instruction with workshops and feel fortunate to have been influenced by some of the top movement instructors in the pilates community.
